John Wertheim and his family have lived in Chalfont St Peter for 40 years. He was elected Councillor for Austenwood in 2007 and re-elected in May 2011. He will continue to work to preserve the Green Belt and campaign to reopen the local Hospital. He has closely monitored all building developments in both Austenwood and the whole of Chalfont St Peter so that they meet the standards expected by all those living in the village. He is proud to have opposed vehemently the poorly conceived planning application for housing development of the Holy Cross site.
He was born in London and, after graduating from St Andrews University, worked mostly within the plastics and packaging industries in three large international companies before setting up his own local company in a similar field. Worshipping regularly at a local church, he was for many years on the Parochial Church Council and the Deanery Synod. His interests include listening to classical music, singing in the South Bucks Choral Society and walking.
