Don Phillips and his wife, Beryl, moved from Cheshire to Doggetts Wood Lane 31 years ago. Before retirement, Don was an oil industry marketing manager, then M.D. of an engineering services company. In 23 years as Chiltern District Councillor, (20 representing Little Chalfont), he held many senior posts, including Chairman of Council, and Chiltern’s first Executive Leader.
He currently represents Little Chalfont on Buckinghamshire Council.
Don is an outspoken advocate of maintaining tight controls on Council staff numbers and spending, whenever possible resisting unnecessary costs imposed on council-taxpayers by Central Government ‘initiatives’. He has been a member of the Planning Committee for 16 years, 8 of them as Chairman, and so has acquired an invaluable pool of local knowledge, its planning history and of planning regulations; he is committed to well-managed planning development in the District.
