Chairman of Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association Andrew Garnett wasted no time in tacking the new Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin on Monday evening at Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
During the course of the exchange it quickly became clear that notwithstanding the West Coast Mainline debacle, the ignored consultation responses and the bankrupt business case McLoughlin was not willing to listen to the arguments against HS2. Indeed he indicated he would be making a positive announcement about it on the Monday.
Commenting Andrew Garnett stated:
" it is a great pity that the Secretary of State for Transport is unwilling to engage with the campaign against HS2. We have exposed serious flaws in the business and environmental cases for the super fast railway that he needs to understand. Ultimately if Ministers refuse to listen to rationale arguments put forward by the campaign against HS2 they must expect to face serious embarrassment in court. My final words to Mc Loughlin were see you in court. I look forward to the start of our judicial reviews in December"-
