URGENT MESSAGE TO RESIDENTS ALONG THE PROPOSED HS2 LINE
We are aware that the Department for Transport has started sending out letters to those whose houses will potentially be destroyed by HS2.
This letter is not a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) As yet the Government lacks the power to CPO for HS2 and will not have that power for anything up to another two years once the hybrid bill is passed.
HS2 is NOT a done deal. Bucks County Council, Chiltern District Council, the various Stop HS2 Action Groups and this Association continue to work to fight off HS2. It is highly probable that there will be at least three Judicial Reviews of the processes that the Government have used to date on HS2.
Commenting Andrew Garnett Chairman of Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association said " I am angered and appalled that the Government is now seeking to rush people in to selling their properties along the line. There is a long way to go before that can or should happen. I understand the anger, anxiety and distress that many along the line feel about this project and would urge residents affected by this Department for Transport letter to resist the rather unsubtle approach that is being made and to continue to work with us to see this scheme off. We continue to await the detailed Environmental Impact Assessment that may yet see significant changes to the route. If you should need help or advice please contact your local councillor, Action Group or Cheryl Gillan MP firstname.lastname@example.org. We are a long, long way from the first price of track being laid."

Chairman of Chesham and Amersham Conservative Association
