Lib Dems Play Games Over Move to Appoint Single CEO
When in excess of 70% of people polled in a recent Bucks Examiner survey indicated that they were in favour of the appointment of a single CEO for Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe District Councils it beggars belief that Chiltern Liberal Democrats have decided to oppose the money saving idea. If fully agreed the idea could lead to a significant streamlining of the management structure of the 3 councils and will in time generate savings of in excess of one million pounds per year.
The root of their objection appears to be that the idea is moving too quickly for the poor dears.
What has happened to date is that the three authorities have agreed to explore the idea and work together to develop a strategy which will be presented to each of the three Councils who will then decide whether this will meet the needs of their residents. The beauty of this approach is that it will allow each District Council involved to save front line services.
What is wrong with Chiltern Lib Dems? Is it that they are embarrassed not too have developed this idea or could it be that they actually have no interest in saving front line services?
