Do the Lib Dems really oppose HS2??
Gilbert Nockles was elected Conservative Councillor for Great Missenden in a local by-election last October. At his maiden Council meeting he spoke on the HS2 project. He was challenged by the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group who suggested that he had personal and possible prejudicial interest in the project. Had this mischief succeeded, Gilbert would have been unable to speak in the Council Chamber on HS2.
Happily, the Council’s Monitoring Officer disagreed and Gilbert remains free to represent Great Missenden's residents' views on HS2.
So what were the Liberals up to? Why this procedural manoeuvring? Why try to silence the Councillor from Great Missenden? Can you trust them?
