The government has announced plans to abolish the County & District Councils and to replace them with a single unitary council for the whole county (excluding Milton Keynes).
Services which are currently divided between the County & District councils - like bin collections, planning & roads - will be brought together under the new unitary council.
The first unitary council elections could be held as early as May 2020. In light of this, councillors and the government will consider whether the District Council elections scheduled for May 2019 should go ahead or be cancelled in order to save the time and cost of holding two local elections in a 12 month period.
Chesham and Amersham Conservatives will continue to update local residents on the latest developments.
