Cuts at the top of local councils

Three Buckinghamshire Councils are to share a single chief executive.

In a statement, the leaders of Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils, Cllrs Nick Rose and Adrian Busby, leader of Wycombe District council said: “We intend to bring together our officer teams with a single chief executive, to create savings, maintain frontline resilience and provide better services to the public.”

It is estimated changes would result in savings of about £1.4m, with a one and half to three year payback.

According to the statement, released on Wednesday last week, a joint chief executive and shared management team will be appointed later in 2011. The team will then look at making further efficiency savings.
