Candidate announced - Julie Cook

The local team of Conservative Councillors representing Amersham have done a great job for the Town over recent years and I would be delighted if you gave me the chance to join that team. The Old Town has never looked better. The grassed areas are better maintained; lamp posts have been freshly painted and thanks to all the residents in the Town in the summer the window boxes are full of flowers. There has been a great increase in help from volunteers with clearing litter etc. and it is really good to see so many people getting involved with looking after their Town. Your Councillors will continue to work to re-instate post office facilities in the Old Town; the War Memorial has been cleaned and refurbished; and the Memorial Gardens continue to be improved and will continue to host the band concerts which are enjoyed by so many. There has been a reduction in anti-social behaviour. The causes of recent flooding have been tackled. My late mothers work was dedicated to the preservation of the local area and in its sustainability. I pledge to work for our very special town and to preserve the integrity of Amersham now and in the future.

No Minister

I’m sure the Transport Secretary is a sincere man, but he is being very poorly briefed on HS2. When a politician has to resort to classic lines, worthy of Ed Balls, such as "we can’t afford not to" and "engine for growth", you know that there is a public relations firm not far behind!
