I have for the last 10 years, as your local County Councillor, represented Chalfont St Peter. I have lived in Chalfont St Peter for over 40 years raising four children who all attended the local Primary, Upper and Grammar schools, therefore I am more than aware of the ‘Excellence of our Schools’.
An elected member of the Parish Council for over 25 years. Trustee of the Maria Taylor Trust – our oldest Village Trust – that gives £25 to £30 to our Senior Citizens every Christmas. I am the current Chairman of the Colne Valley Park – eight Authorities working together to protect the 43 square miles of the Park running from Rickmansworth in the North to Staines (including parts of Chalfont St Peter) in the South – and a Director of Groundwork Thames Valley. I have acted as Vice Chairman of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee on Personal Care, the committee that looks at the work of our Social and Children’s Services. I am ‘The Spokesman’ for the Cabinet Member for Schools, sitting on all the Education Committees, Chairman of the Schools Admission Forum. We are the top Local Education Authority in the country and will do my best to make sure we stay there. I am especially proud to be a Governor of the Chalfont’s Community College which has seen a £2.5m investment in eight classrooms, a Drama centre plus IT rooms over the last three years and a £1.6m Sixth Form block, a school we can all be justly proud of, right at the top of its League Table. I am equally proud to be a Governor of the Robertswood Combined School, now in my 26th year. If I retain your confidence and you return me as your member, I pledge to do all I can to serve your interests at County Hall.
